Hypnotherapy for Drug Addiction

by Rodney Inns

Drug addiction Issues are a terrible problem that can destroy people’s lives and the ones they love. There are miss conceptions about drug addiction, why people get addicted and how to treat them. Much of this information is wrong, and that is why people struggle to stop because current therapies and approaches don’t work because they’re built on false information.

I will explain what drug addiction is the symptoms and how you develop a drug addiction. Then I will go over how hypnosis can help eliminate your drug addiction permanently without withdrawal symptoms using hypnotherapy for drug addiction.

Drug Addictions Are Physical

It has been widely thought that addiction to drugs like ice is a physical addiction and that over time the body needs the drug to function, and if you stop using the said drug you will go through withdrawal where your body is craving the drug. The symptoms may include headaches, nausea, tremors, anxiety, hallucinations, and seizures.

This has been a widely spread belief about drug addiction that is completely wrong! Through my work with drug addicts over the years, I have discovered the secrets why people become addicted to drugs and it’s not a physical addiction! This is the single most important fact I have learned and all main stream medicine bases all treatments on this false belief that it’s a physical addiction and it stops them from discovering the real truth and developing new approaches to treating drug addiction that will work.

Through my work with drug addiction I have developed methods that work to help people overcome their drug addiction through the use of hypnotherapy drug addiction Melbourne that doesn’t work on this physical addiction model, it works on emotions as the real source of the problem.

How We Work

To start off, we need a basic understanding of how various parts of drug addiction work to understand why people become addicted to drugs. This involves an understanding of the mind, emotions and how they work within our bodies. I will cover this below to give you an understanding of what is causing drug addiction. I discovered this through work as a hypnotherapist using hypnosis for drug addiction to help people with drug addictions.

What Are Emotions?

Emotions are made of two things thoughts and thoughts are made up of images, colour, movies, sound, dialogue, talking to ourselves and others in our heads. The second part of emotions is a physical sensation in our bodies, sometimes people will say I have butterflies in my stomach to represent anxiety, you might get a tight chest when you get angry and hot in face when embarrassed. People who have panic attacks have extreme physical sensations like; sweating, shaking, dizziness, pins and needles, heart racing, burning and many more. Most of the physical sensations in your body you are completely unaware of you are just present to the emotion and sometimes you’re not even present to them depending on the intensity of the emotion.

The reason why you are unaware of these sensations because when they happen they may be mild and over time you get used to it and eventually you can no longer feel it. It has become subconscious outside your conscious awareness. Think of wearing a watch for the first time at first you can feel it all the time then after two weeks of wearing a watch you can no longer feel the watch the sensation of it on your wrist has become subconscious.

So emotions are made up of thoughts and physical sensations in the body combined they form our emotions.

Emotions Accumulate over Time

Emotions accumulate over time in our bodies because every time you feel intense emotion you anchor it to the memory of that event and store it in your body, also you get better at doing those emotions over time the more you practice them. So imagine that your emotions are on a scale of 1-10. Let’s say as a child your anxiety level was a 2 but as you get older you practice doing that emotion, and you’re also storing that emotion in your body anchored to memories and you accumulate them. As you get older, the level will rise from a 2 upwards to say at 4 and a few years later a 6 and it continues to climb as you get older.

Now let’s say you’re at an anxiety level 5 well the thing is you will be at this level 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You may fluctuate around this level, but even when you're asleep, you will be at this level. You’re so used to being at this level you are probably unaware of the emotions it’s subconscious.

This cannot be stopped this is how we work we learn emotions as children subconsciously then we practice doing those emotions and storing those emotions in our bodies subconsciously it all happens outside of our conscious awareness and control. The speed at which the level increases varies from person to person, depending on that individual and their life circumstances, people who suffer trauma or addictions will have their levels increase more rapidly than those who don’t.

Drugs Disconnects Your Mind from Your Body

So what does drugs actually do? Well, drugs allow the person to disconnect their minds from their bodies so they cannot feel all the physical sensations of their emotions in their bodies. Which produces an allusion that you have relaxed or feel better. But this is not the case they have numbed them-self so they cannot feel what is going on in their body, just like using a painkiller. Those physical sensations that they’re numbing are actually emotions they’re feeling so they are disconnecting or masking their emotions.

The second part of this is that they can take all the thoughts which are the second part of their emotions, that are bothering them and shove them off into a corner for a while so they can get some peace for a while.

Relaxing Verses Numbing Effects of Drugs

So this is a key part of the addiction, people who are addicted to drugs actually think they are relaxing but this is not the case, they are actually numbing or masking how they feel so it’s an allusion. It is like taking painkillers when you hurt yourself. They take the drugs and they can no longer feel all the negative emotions they are experiencing until the drug wears off and then they start to feel those emotions again.

Anchor Emotions to Drugs

Whatever emotional state you're in before using drugs, you actually anchor that emotion to the using drugs, much the same as you anchor emotions to memories. So if you're anxious before using drugs then you anchor anxiety to the drugs and over time as you use drugs more and more you anchor more and more anxiety to using drugs, which further amplifies the level of the emotion. So you could feel really good and not anxious but as soon as you use drugs you will go into a very intense anxious emotional state.

Drugs Amplify Negative Emotional State

The next thing that happens when people use drugs is, lets say you’re at an anxiety level 3 before you use drugs, well the drugs amplifies the emotional state your in so the level 3 could jump to an 8, but you think that you have relaxed when the opposite has actually happened you have become way more intensely anxious.

Drugs Accelerate the Rate at Which Negative Emotions Accumulate

There is more bad news this is what really hurts drug addicts, let's say it could take you 60 years to get to a certain anxiety level of say 8! When using drugs you can compress this time frame down from 60 years to 3 months to a few years. So, in effect, using drugs greatly accelerates the build-up of intense negative emotions.

How Do You Become Addicted?

This is the final piece that explains why people become addicted. When people start out using drugs, it’s usually social and fun only when going out on a weekend. Which is fine but one day they feel really bad i.e. depressed, anxious, angry etc and they think well I will use drugs that will make me feel better?

This is the pivotal decision that changes completely what drugs is used for! Now instead of fun, social to relax, which are positive emotions, it becomes a vehicle to escape and numbing themselves which they are trying to escape negative emotions. Once they make this decision, the reason for doing drugs has completely changed, and this is the beginning of the addiction to drugs as an escape, it's only a matter of time before it will start to become a problem.

Towards and Away Motivation That Drives the Addiction

This is a more simplified way of thinking about how we work in our mind, we have two types of motivation we have away from motivation and towards motivation. Away from motivations are I feel anxious, angry, sad, not good enough etc and I need to escape these feelings at all cost. The Towards motivation are the feelings of excitement, fun, relax, feel really good, numbness, escape etc so they cannot feel anything bad anymore.

So, on one hand, they have all the negative emotions they need to escape, and on the other side, they have the allure of a reward for doing drugs which is an escape. This is a propulsion system.

We also work in a linear fashion so they are present to the pain they are present to the reward of using drugs which is overpowering, but they are not present to the fallout of using drugs which is a lot more pain, they only become present to this after it wears off.

These two motivations work in tandem to trap people in the addiction.

Quiting Alcohol

A direct and effective healing

Alcoholism From a young age I was dictated by an addiction to alcohol. Even when trying to stay sober (for 2 months, 6 months and 9 months at a time) I always found myself falling back into the trap and struggling through the self destructive thoughts and patterns that go with drinking.

I only needed one session with Rodney to completely free myself of this addiction. The session was more raw and direct than I’d expected and this proved to be a highly effective approach as I haven’t felt like a drink since. Even in situations where alcohol consumption is offered and encouraged, not only do I not have the craving, but I also have an automatic rationale and memory bank that pops up reinforcing reasons to stay sober.

This has completely changed my life. Rodney’s hard line approach is enough to shake any problem. There’s real care behind the way he heals and it’s not through pointless hand holding, but rather through perfected techniques that get to the core of the issue. Essentially, giving you a second chance and a fresh slate.

Ice coffee addiction

Every day I would drink a 750 ml bottle of ice coffee, sometimes more. I have had the addiction for over ten years and it was a bad habit I couldn’t stop.

But after just one session I stopped drinking ice coffee and I don’t feel the need to have one either. Thanks to Rodney. I no longer want to have the ice coffee, which is good.

Withdrawal Doesn't Exist

Ok, so withdrawal from drugs under the current belief is that it’s a physical withdrawal and that the body craves the drugs and cannot function without it. This is wrong it’s not a need for the drugs itself it’s the need for the numbing effects of the drugs, so the person cannot feel all those physical sensations in their body because of intense negative emotional state. The body doesn’t need the drugs the mind needs it to escape the physical pain caused by negative emotions.

The mistake that’s made is the drug addict is in an intense negative emotional state and when they stop using drugs, they feel all the negative emotions manifest in their body as physical sensations, it’s very high and it takes a few days to a week for this level to come down to a level that doesn’t drive the person nuts when they stop using drugs. So they are missing the numbing effects of the drug, not a physical withdrawal.

Many people have experienced the hangover and I am sure as you got older that the days to recover from a night of indulgence increases, the hangover state is the withdrawal state that people think of, the difference is you’re not addicted to the drug just its numbing effect.

That is why mainstream medicine has developed methadone programs to help addicts get over their addiction and the methadone is actually a painkiller so they are substituting one numbing drug with another in an attempt to get them to stop the drug addiction.

I have had clients who have been to rehab to get off drugs, and they were climbing the walls in pain for about a week until things settled down. Then they started doing drugs again and came to me for help. I could get them off the drugs and with no withdrawal. When they came back for a followup, they would ask why didn’t I have withdrawal? And I have to remind them it’s a psychological and emotional disorder, not a physical problem, and because we got rid of all the negative emotions, they didn’t go through withdrawal.

So to be clear, addicts are addicted to the numbing effects of the drugs to numb their negative emotions, it’s not a physical craving withdrawal they can use any painkiller to get the same affect.

How to Quit Drugs Using Hypnosis for Drug Addiction Melbourne

The only way I know that I have found that works to stop people from using drugs is by using hypnosis for drug addiction Melbourne by removing the emotions associated with the drug addiction but be careful not all hypnotherapists practising hypnosis for drug addiction treatment know how to work with emotions and remove them.

Different Types of Hypnotherapy Drug Addiction Melbourne

Most hypnotherapy approaches don’t work to eliminate the addiction in this way most hypnotherapists work by introducing suggestions into your subconscious mind to change your thoughts and hence your behaviours, so it can sometimes work great with behaviour problems but not emotions. Unfortunately, most hypnotherapists are taught this behavioural suggestion type of hypnosis for drug addiction.

As a Hypnotherapist, I was lucky to be taught by someone who knew how to work with emotions, and I have helped many people with all sorts of problems including hypnotherapy for drug addiction by removing negative anchored emotions.

So we will remove all emotions that trigger them into using drugs like anxiety, anger, sad, worthless, etc.

Test at the End of My Hypnosis for Drug Addiction Treatment Sessions

At the end of my hypnosis for drug addiction treatment sessions as a test I get them to go back to all the times they can remember using drugs and they won’t be able to get any of the old emotions, physical sensations from those memories. This means they will not automatically go into their old automatic emotions and behaviours from the past because we have broken the old patterns.

I have had great success in helping people using this method after treatment they feel so relaxed and good that they just don’t feel the need to use drugs anymore.

Conclusion Hypnosis for Drug Addiction Works

Being addicted to drugs is not a physical addiction, which is a widely held view in the mainstream, it’s a psychological and emotional addiction. I have helped many people get off drugs over the years and without withdrawal, this would not be possible if it was a physical addiction. If you ask any person who has a drug addiction to read this article, they will be able to assure you I am correct, I have told many drug users why they are addicted to drugs and they all relate to what I say and agree with me.

Hopefully, this will help you understand your own addiction if you’re addicted to drugs, and if you have a friend or family member addicted to drugs hopefully, this will help you understand their problem, and help you help them find a solution to getting off drugs through hypnosis for drug addiction because most addicted users don’t want to continue using drugs.
